Chris Watson

Chris Watson is a British field recordist and sound artist, founding member of Cabaret Voltaire, and one of the world's most respected practitioners of location and wildlife sound recording. His Touch Records releases — including Outside the Circle of Fire (1998), Stepping Into the Dark (1996), and Weather Report (2003) — create immersive sonic portraits of natural environments with extraordinary technical and aesthetic quality. He has also composed music for David Attenborough documentaries. His work has done as much as any single artist to establish field recording as a sophisticated artistic and ecological practice.
