Chik White
Chik White is the performing name of Darcy Spidle, a Canadian musician and improviser based on the rural Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia whose practice draws on free improvisation and sound art traditions. Working primarily with handmade jaw harps alongside voice, nose flutes, horns, and field recordings of the surrounding land and water, they develop performances characterised by breathwork, sound poetry, and formal unpredictability — events that respond to the specific acoustic conditions of each space and the contingencies of live improvisation. Chik White has released widely and performed across underground circuits in North America and Europe, collaborating with artists such as Bill Nace.
