César Bolaños
Born in Lima in 1931 and died there in 2012, this Peruvian composer was a foundational figure in Latin American electroacoustic music. After studying at the Manhattan School of Music and the RCA Institute of Electronic Technology, he joined CLAEM at the Instituto Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires in 1963, where he built the studio's first electronic music laboratory and composed Intensidad y Altura (1964), the centre's first tape piece, based on a poem by César Vallejo. He later explored computer-generated music in his ESEPCO series from 1970.
