Catriel Nievas

Catriel Nievas is a composer, guitarist and sound artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina, working across ambient and drone live sets, listening sessions and graphic scores. Trained in popular guitar and holding a music degree from the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero, he builds slow, atmospheric pieces from samples, field recordings and voice, favoring repetition and ghostly, transfigured melodic fragments. He composes for film, dance and podcasts from his studio Espacio Ceibo, and performs in the duos Lyas and FFFFFF. His essay "La expansión de la escucha," published by Tsonami Ediciones, frames listening as a bodily, affective practice exceeding the ear.
