Carolina Caycedo

Carolina Caycedo (born 1978 in London, to Colombian parents) is a multimedia artist raised in Bogotá and now based in Los Angeles. She holds a BFA from Universidad de los Andes and an MFA from USC. Her practice grows from environmental research into shared resources, energy transition, and cultural biodiversity, built through fieldwork with communities affected by large infrastructure. Her project Be Dammed (since 2012) gathers video, artist books, and installation around Colombian communities on the Magdalena River contending with dam construction and river privatization, framing resistance to extractivism. She was a 2012 DAAD Berlin fellow and won a 2015 Creative Capital Award.
