Carl Stone

Born in Los Angeles in 1953, this electronic composer studied at the California Institute of the Arts under Morton Subotnick and James Tenney and has been composing electro-acoustic music since 1972. He is a pioneer of live computer performance and extended sampling, looping and deconstructing Japanese folk songs, soul, and pop into mesmerizing real-time transformations. His 3-LP archival set on Unseen Worlds was named best archival release of 2016 by The Wire. He divides his time between California and Japan.
