Camille Norment

Camille Norment (b. 1970, Silver Spring, Maryland) is an American artist based in Oslo working across sound, installation, sculpture, performance, and video. She studied interactive technologies at NYU and art history at the University of Michigan, later researching haptic media at Interval Research.

With the Camille Norment Trio she performs on glass armonica, electric guitar, and Hardanger fiddle, exploring resonance and the cultural politics of sound — instruments historically linked to the body and to social control. In 2015 she represented Norway in the Nordic Pavilion at the Venice Biennale with Rapture, a sculptural sound installation built around the glass armonica's haunting tones.
