Bun-Ching Lam

Bun-Ching Lam (born 1954) is a Hong Kong-born composer and pianist based in the United States. Her compositions integrate Chinese musical traditions — particularly the melodic and timbral characteristics of traditional Chinese instruments — with Western contemporary compositional techniques, producing a body of work that resists both easy exoticism and cultural assimilation. She has received commissions from major European and American ensembles and has been recognised with numerous awards. Her piano works, chamber compositions, and orchestral pieces have been recorded on various labels and performed internationally.
