Blackhaine

Blackhaine is the alias of Tom Heyes, an English musician, rapper and choreographer born in Preston and raised in Chorley, Lancashire. He began exploring contemporary dance as a teenager, developing an abrasive, self-punishing style influenced by butoh that often left him bruised, before moving into industrial-tinged experimental music and drill-inflected rap. He came to prominence around 2021 within Salford's experimental scene centred on The White Hotel, alongside Space Afrika, Rainy Miller and Aya, releasing the EPs And Salford Falls Apart and Armour II. He has choreographed for and appeared with Playboi Carti's Opium label, and starred in the 2023 BBC Film/BFI short Moon Under Water.
