Black Dice
Black Dice are an American noise and electronic group formed in Providence, Rhode Island in 1997. Beginning as a hardcore-influenced noise band, they radically transformed their practice after moving to Brooklyn — releasing on DFA Records and Paw Tracks a series of albums that combined noise, tropical found sounds, lo-fi electronics, and primitive drum machines into something genuinely novel. Beaches and Canyons (2002) and Broken Ear Record (2005) are landmarks of American experimental music of the 2000s. Their work occupied an unusual position between underground rock and experimental electronic music, attracting critical attention across both worlds.
