Björn Roth
Born in Reykjavik in 1961 to Swiss artist Dieter Roth and Icelandic visual artist Sigridur Bjornsdottir, he became a key collaborator in his fathers work, contributing across decades to the material and ephemeral art practices for which Dieter Roth is celebrated. The two worked together on assemblage-based collages made from cardboard studio mats bearing coffee stains and other traces of daily use. In his youth he was also a member of the avant-garde band Bruni BB, which appeared in the documentary Rock in Reykjavik. His collaborative works with Dieter Roth were shown at Hauser and Wirth. He died on 2 January 2026, aged 64.
