Billy Roisz
Born in 1967, she lives and works in Vienna and has been a defining presence in the Austrian experimental scene since the late 1990s. Self-taught within the DIY noise and electronic music culture of Vienna at the turn of the millennium, her work investigates the links between visual and auditory perception, using monitors, cameras, a self-built videosynth, bass guitar, and feedback systems. She has presented audiovisual performances and installations at the Tate Modern, the Centre Pompidou, the Berlinale, and the Biennale of Sao Paulo. In 2009 she received the Austrian Outstanding Artist Award for innovative film art.
