Biliana Voutchkova

Born into a family of musicians in Bulgaria, she began playing violin at the age of four and made her orchestra debut at nine. Now based in Berlin, she works as a violinist, composer, and improviser with extended technique, spanning classical training and radical experimentation. She performs with Ensemble Modern, Zeitkratzer, the Splitter and Trickster Orchestras, and the duo Voutchkova/Thieke, and works internationally as a soloist and collaborator in interdisciplinary formats. She is the founder and curator of the DARA String Festival and was a SHAPE+ Platform artist for 2022-2023.
