Bernd Schurer
Born in Zurich in 1970, he studied philosophy and film sciences at the University of Zurich and fine arts at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lucerne before settling in Berlin. His practice as a sound artist, researcher, and composer investigates human perception through computational and phenomenological methods, with a focus on psychoacoustics, spatialization, and algorithmic composition. He co-founded the domizil music label with Marcus Maeder and has presented electroacoustic work internationally at venues ranging from micro-galleries to the Venice Biennale.
