Benjamin Gaulon

French artist and researcher based in Paris, he studied visual communication at the Ecole Superieure des Arts Decoratifs de Strasbourg and received an MFA from the Frank Mohr Institute. Working under the name Recyclism, his practice investigates planned obsolescence, media failure, and the politics of consumer technology through détournement, hacking, and recycling. His ongoing ReFunct Media series assembles obsolete electronic devices into multimedia sculptures that expose the hidden possibilities of discarded technology. In 2018 he co-founded No, a non-profit focused on the social and environmental dimensions of information technologies.
