Beatriz Ferreyra
Beatriz Ferreyra (b. 1937, Córdoba, Argentina) is an Argentine composer based in France and a pioneering figure in electroacoustic music for over sixty years. After studying piano in Buenos Aires and with Nadia Boulanger in Paris, she joined Pierre Schaeffer's Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM) in 1963, assisting his research for Solfège de l'Objet Sonore.
From 1970 she devoted herself fully to composition, also researching sound structures with Bernard Baschet. Her catalogue — including Echos+ (1978) — is marked by delicate timbral invention and lyrical handling of recorded sound. In 2014 she became an Honorary Member of the International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music.
