Bass Communion

Bass Communion is the ambient and drone project of British musician Steven Wilson, best known as the founder and principal member of Porcupine Tree. Working under this alias since 1994, Wilson produces recordings very different from his progressive rock practice — long, dark, immersive drone and ambient constructions built from processed guitars, field recordings, and electronics. Albums including Bass Communion I (1995), Ghosts on Magnetic Tape (2004), and Molotov and Haze (2010) document this sustained parallel practice. The project has released on Headphone Dust and other labels and collaborates with acts including Muslimgauze and Peter Christopherson.
