Babi Badalov
Babi Badalov (b. 1959) is an Azerbaijani-born artist living in exile in Paris, known for text-based installations, paintings, and performances that play with language, migration, and identity. Working across Azeri, Russian, French, and English, he layers fragments of words and puns onto fabric, paper, and found objects.
Badalov's nomadic biography — including periods of statelessness — informs an art practice built from linguistic displacement: invented words, visual rhymes between alphabets, and slogans that turn the experience of not quite belonging to any single language into a generative artistic method.
