Aviador Dro
Aviador Dro, in full El Aviador Dro y sus Obreros Especializados, is a Spanish synth-pop group formed in Madrid in 1979 by schoolmates Arturo Lanz and Servando Carballar, growing out of the earlier punk project Alex y los Drugos. Recruiting members through a magazine ad seeking fans of Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, and the Residents, the group fused Kraftwerk- and Devo-inflected electronics with science fiction and Dadaist imagery, coining the term "tecno-pop" in Spain in 1979. Central to the Movida Madrileña, they released early singles like "La Chica de Plexiglás" before founding their own label, DRO, in 1982. Still led by Carballar, the group continues performing today.
