Arrigo Barnabé

Arrigo Barnabé (b. 1951, Londrina, Paraná) is a Brazilian composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist who studied at the University of São Paulo and became deeply influenced by atonal and dodecaphonic techniques, particularly those of Arnold Schoenberg. His emergence in the late 1970s coincided with the Vanguarda Paulista movement, of which he is one of the key figures — a loose coalition of Brazilian musicians who challenged traditional popular music structures with formal complexity and theatrical invention.
