Anthea Caddy

Born in Melbourne in 1981, Anthea Caddy is an Australian cellist who divides her time between Melbourne and Berlin. Her practice combines extended technique with a deep engagement with electroacoustic music, field recording, and free improvisation, treating the cello as a source of texture, noise, and micro-tonal detail. She has performed with Tony Conrad, Christian Wolff, Magda Mayas, Annette Krebs, Philip Samartzis, and Robin Hayward, among many others. Her long-term duo with sound artist Thembi Soddell, documented on the Cajid label, is a central strand of her collaborative work.
