Anat Pick
Anat Pick is a scholar of film and media whose work focuses on animal studies, ecology, and the philosophy of vulnerability in visual culture. She is the author of Creaturely Poetics: Animality and Vulnerability in Literature and Film, which proposes a way of reading cinema attentive to the bodily, exposed condition shared by humans and animals alike.
Her writing draws on philosophers including Simone Weil and Emmanuel Levinas to challenge anthropocentric assumptions in film theory, examining how documentary and experimental film represent — or fail to represent — nonhuman life, and contributing to the broader fields of ecocriticism and posthumanist thought.
