Anastasia Ax

Born 1979 in Stockholm, Anastasia Ax lives and works between Stockholm and Athens. Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Valand Academy and the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, she creates visceral performances, sculptures, ink drawings and sound works that interweave construction with deliberate deconstruction. Using her body in brutal or subtle collisions with physical materials such as plaster, charcoal and paper, she explores transformation, chaos and the release of countervailing forces. Her raw, physical actions often leave permanent traces on both the artist and the surrounding space, forging a wordless language that reflects the chaotic nature of our universe.
