Alejandra Pérez Nuñez
Alejandra Pérez Nuñez (born 1972, Punta Arenas) is a Chilean noise artist, hacktivist, and media designer based in Valparaíso, working under the alias elpueblodechina. Trained at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, her practice spans noise performance, radio art, installation, and land art with a sustained focus on Antarctica and imperceptible electromagnetic sound. Her Wave Farm commission Un elemento en común alfa (2014) recorded VLF and hydrophone signals across the Antarctic passage; her exhibition Hacking Antarctica (London Gallery West, 2019) proposes hacking as an onto-epistemological method. She has shown at Transmediale, Piksel, Wave Farm, and Museo Reina Sofía.
