Albania Juárez
Albania Juárez (born 1987, Mexico City) is a Mexican transdisciplinary performer working across sound, printmaking, and painting. Trained at UNAM and ENPEG La Esmeralda, she studied at Kunstakademie Karlsruhe on a Baden-Württemberg scholarship in 2015. Her sound practice uses musical saw, ukulele, voice, ocarinas, and field recordings, with thematic roots in mysticism, agroecology, Mexican herbalism, and the milpa agricultural system. She held a residency at CMMAS (Morelia, 2022), documenting soundscapes of milpa communities in Michoacán. She releases on Nuube and Psychonautica and performs in the free folk quartet Montañas Rojas.
