Alain Arias-Misson
Alain Arias-Misson (b. 1936) is a Belgian-American poet and artist associated with the international concrete and visual poetry movements of the 1960s. Working across languages and media, he became known for "public poems" — large-scale interventions in city streets using letters, signs, and human bodies to turn urban space itself into a kind of text.
He has also worked in performance, sculpture, and prose fiction, treating language as a physical and environmental material rather than a purely literary one. His work connects the concrete poetry experiments of the postwar avant-garde to later traditions of text-based and site-specific art.
