Akira Rabelais
Akira Rabelais is an American composer, poet, and software programmer whose work engages experimental sound processing and magic realism. He studied composition at Bennington College under Bill Dixon and completed an MFA at CalArts under Morton Subotnick. His 1999 debut Elongated Pentagonal Pyramid appeared on Ritornell, followed by the widely cited Spellewauerynsherde on Samadhi Sound (2004). He developed the audio processing software Argeiphontes Lyre, used by Biosphere, Terre Thaemlitz, and Scanner. His 2019 album cxxi on Boomkat Editions features Ben Frost, Harold Budd, and Stephan Mathieu.
