Aho Ssan

Aho Ssan is the alias of Paris-based artist Niamké Désiré. An autodidact composer after studying mathematics, computer science, graphic design and cinema at Université d'Orsay, he creates dense, cinematic electronic and electroacoustic works using custom digital instruments, Max/MSP patches and synthesizers. His debut album Simulacrum (2020, Subtext Recordings) draws on Jean Baudrillard's ideas of simulation and was presented at Berlin Atonal. Inspired by his grandfather's jazz trumpet playing and stories of family memory, his music explores themes of identity, urban alienation, inclusivity versus lived experience as a Black artist in France, and the rhizomatic feeling of everything.
