Agencement
Agencement is the long-running project of Japanese musician Hideaki Shimada, born in 1962 in Kanazawa. Since the 1980s he has produced intricate, delicate violin-based experimental music that fuses improvisation, tape techniques, minimalism and subtle textural layering into highly personal sonic worlds. Starting with solo violin improvisations in the early 1980s, he added electronics and tape manipulation to create a distinctive language that occupies a unique position between composition and improvisation. His releases have appeared on Rallenti, Doubtful Sounds, and other specialized labels.
