Abruptum

Abruptum was a Swedish black metal and occult music group formed in 1989 by IT (Tony Särkkä), later joined by Evil (Morgan Håkansson, also of Marduk), part of the Swedish black metal underground of the early 1990s. Their recordings — characterised by extremely slow, dissonant structures, a harsh production aesthetic, and extended compositions structured around ritual rather than conventional song forms — were positioned as genuine expressions of Satanic practice rather than musical entertainment. Their debut Obscuritatem Advoco Amplectère Me (1993), released through Euronymous's Deathlike Silence Productions, became a touchstone for black metal's more experimental and dark ambient fringe.
