33EMYBW is the solo alias of Shanghai musician Wu Shanmin, known since the mid-2000s through bands like Muscle Snog and, from 2009, bass duties in Duck Fight Goose. When that group pivoted from indie rock toward futurist club music on 2016's Club Zvkvnft, Wu pushed the direction further solo, releasing the 2017 EP Medusa on DForce and albums Golem (2018) and Arthropods (2019) via Svbkvlt. Her productions fuse mutant club rhythm, noise textures and surreal, body-warping visual design into one practice; she is also creative director for Shanghai fashion label Zuczug. She has performed at CTM Festival, Nyege Nyege and SXSW, a key voice in China's experimental electronic underground.
